Tastevinage 2026: our Puligny-Montrachet Les Houillères 2022 selected at Clos de Vougeot

Bottle of Puligny-Montrachet Les Houillères resting on the fossil-rich limestone of the terroir

Wonderful news from the estate: our Puligny-Montrachet Les Houillères 2022 has just been selected at the Tastevinage, at the 118th edition held on 11 September 2026 at the Château du Clos de Vougeot. Fewer than a third of the 400 or so wines presented earn this famous seal from the Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin.

Tastevinage Selection

Autumn 2026 Tastevinage — Château du Clos de Vougeot

What is the Tastevinage, Burgundy’s blind-tasting seal of approval?

Created in 1950 by the Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin, the Tastevinage is one of Burgundy’s most respected labels. Twice a year, in spring and autumn, around 150 jurors — sommeliers, merchants, restaurateurs, oenologists and knowledgeable enthusiasts — gather at the Château du Clos de Vougeot to taste several hundred wines blind. The single criterion: the wine must be perfectly typical of its appellation and vintage, and a pleasure to drink today. Every selected bottle carries the numbered Tastevinage label, a guarantee of authenticity and quality.

2022: a great vintage for white Burgundy

The 2022 vintage stands out as one of the finest recent years for white Burgundy from the Côte de Beaune. On the Les Houillères lieu-dit, an east-facing slope at the heart of the Puligny-Montrachet appellation, Chardonnay produced a taut, precise wine carried by the saline minerality that is the signature of great Puligny — already awarded 92/100 at the Gilbert & Gaillard International Challenge. To understand what sets Puligny apart from its neighbour, read our guide Chassagne-Montrachet vs Puligny-Montrachet.

Food pairing: what to serve with a Puligny-Montrachet?

This village Puligny-Montrachet is a superb match for poultry in cream sauce, roasted lobster, seared scallops or fine fish; on the cheese board, try aged goat’s cheese or a fruity Comté. Serve it at 11–13°C — and don’t be afraid to wait: a village wine of this level will age gracefully for 5 to 8 years.

The Puligny-Montrachet Les Houillères 2022, made by the Domaine du Duc de Magenta — the Mac Mahon family —, is available from the estate shop, in bottle and magnum. Selected bottles will carry the numbered Tastevinage neck label: one for the cellar… or for opening tonight.
