Wines
From the cloister to the Dukes
Centuries later, the abbey attracted the attention of Burgundy's elite. In the 20th century, Duke Philippe, the 9th Duke of Magenta , fell under Morgeot's spell and chose to establish the winery and cellars of his estate there. Since the 1960s, this historically significant site has housed the winemaking and aging of the wines of Domaine du Duc de Magenta.
Cistercian Heritage
In the 12th century, Cistercian monks built Morgeot Abbey in the heart of Chassagne-Montrachet. Faithful to their motto Ora et Labora (pray and work) , they cleared, planted, organized the land and laid the first stones of a vineyard destined for excellence.
