We are proud to be Burgundians!

OUR IRISH ROOTS
The Burgundian monks of Cîteaux established the vineyard in Morgeot around 1150.

In the 15th century the troops of the King of France devastated the village of Chassagne-Montrachet because they remained faithful to Marie, the last Duchess of Burgundy. The troops of Louis XI burned the Abbey of Morgeot in Chassagne-Montrachet.
After their passage, all that remains of the Abbey is the Chapel and the bread oven, whose locations we can guess today.
The Abbey became a Magenta property in the 1960s when Philippe, 9th Marquis of Mac-Mahon, 4th Duke of Magenta, fell under its spell.

VINEYARD FAMILY
SINCE 1750
The Mac Mahon family have been raising wine in Burgundy since their arrival from Ireland in the first half of the 18th century. They appreciated it since long before and the first Marquess sent a cask of his good wine every year to his brother Eveque of Killaloe in County Limerick.
The 4th Duke of Magenta, Philippe, passionate about his vineyard, gave worldwide notoriety to the estate. He raises, in his image, wines of great elegance and is at the origin of the famous vintages Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Clos de la Garenne"
